Draft Horses & Draft Beers

November 2 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Two of Howard County’s premier farms (Manor Hill and Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue) are partnering for a family friendly day of food, fun, and philanthropy.  Farm and Taproom open 12-7pm, featuring:

~ Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue on site with friendly horses for petting & pictures beginning at noon until about 4pm (or until the horses get tired). Meet their ambassador Belgian horses who inspired our collaboration beer (see below) ~

~ New First Friday collaboration King’s Abbey on draught and in cans. A portion of proceeds from this Belgian-style Abbey will benefit Gentle Giants. ~

~ Manor Hill Pizza Trolley  open 12-6pm ~

~ Learn about and contribute to Gentle Giant’s mission of saving draft horses from slaughter, abuse, and neglect. ~

The Farm & Taproom seating is first come, first served.  We have indoor seating, a large covered tent, and plenty of outdoor space to spread out. There are several picnic tables in our field, but we also encourage you to bring your own chairs or even a portable (10×10) pop-up tent for shade and find your new favorite spot with friends. (if you bring a tent, don’t forget the weights/stakes).

INFO ON VISITING THE FARM

While visiting the farm, be sure to check out our agriculture in action.  Our award-winning beers may be our most well-known agricultural product, but our 54-acre working farm has so much more to offer.  In fact, the majority of our land is used for agriculture… so you can’t miss it no matter where you are on the farm!

As you enter the farm, on the right side of the driveway, you will see 14 acres of non-GMO corn. Every single beer brewed at Manor Hill uses this corn in its recipe.  On the left side of the driveway as you enter you will see our 12-acre cow pasture where we host about 20-25 Black Angus Cattle on the farm from Spring to Fall (there is an additional cattle pasture behind the residence).  Directly behind our Taproom, we have a coop with one rooster (Elvis) and approximately 30 egg-laying hens.  Next to our chicken coop is our goat enclosure featuring Mary and Gilbert, a mother and son set of Pygmy Goats.  Last, but certainly not least, is our array of gardens on the farm that produce various vegetables, fruits, and herbs used in our beer, Trolley pizza, and at our restaurants.  Informational signs on the property as well as our staff can answer any questions you have during your visit.
